ABOUT THE ARTIST
The action and energy captured in the acrylic paintings of Shaun Kinley has been described as “activation art.” The intensity displayed in his work illuminates the subjects with brilliant color, stroke, and texture. The expressive images are realistic, yet far from literal.
Kinley’s work includes a piece presented to The United States White House Gallery, commissions by professional athletes, a official marathon poster images for the Chicago, Miami, New Orleans, Marine Corps/Washington D.C., and Disney World Marathons.
Each painting’s subject possesses intrinsic characteristics that inspire the artist to paint it, such as unfeigned devotion to genuine competition or excellence in the field. The art renders a certain reverence or loyalty toward the subject. Kinley’s vision is for his inspiration to become the viewer’s inspiration; for the viewer to look beyond what is literally seen on the canvas and contemplate the energy behind the motion, the source behind the energy, for the viewer’s heart to be tugged toward something greater.
